St. Mary-Corwin provides rehabilitation services to patients in Pueblo and southern Colorado who have sustained significant injuries, or those who have medical illnesses requiring the need for a specialized team approach to rehabilitation.
Our philosophy is based upon the belief that the helping and rehabilitative disciplines enable people to resume life’s activities. These disciplines include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and cardiac rehabilitation.
The comprehensive inpatient rehab services provide evaluation, treatment and prevention services by physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists for those who have decreased functional capacity. The inpatient acute rehab unit in the hospital is a 12-bed dedicated unit for adult and geriatric patients who require a level of medical and therapy rehabilitation. The rehab department is led by Dr. Divakara Kedlaya, Medical Director of Acute Rehab.
Referrals & Plan of Care
Once a physician referral for one or more therapy services is received by the rehab services department, the therapists will perform a comprehensive evaluation. The plan of care is established, based on the findings in the evaluation, and is specific to the patient's individual needs and goals. The rehab therapy staff will work to achieve your goals with the ultimate objective of returning each patient to his or her previous level of function. Patients are instructed on specific activities or exercises to do at home that will enhance their progress. The physician is regularly updated on the progress of patients, and is notified when the patient has reached the goals set and can move on to the appropriate level of care.
For referral information, call the inpatient rehabilitation administrative office at 719-557-5108. For referral information on Cardiac Rehabilitation, call 719-557-4576.
