Stephen T. Brown III, MD

St. Mary-Corwin Chief Medical Officer, Centura Health Chief Medical Executive

Dr. Steve Brown, Chief Medical Officer & Vice President of Medical Affairs, came to St. Mary-Corwin in 2000 with an incredible medical background as both a medical professional and professor. He was named Centura Health Chief Medical Executive in December 2008. 

His education includes B.A. and M.D. from University of Missouri, Columbia, where he graduated with top honors. He completed his education at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is also board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and is a Clinical Hypertension Specialist. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a professor of clinical medicine at University of Colorado.

At Louisiana State University Medical Center, Dr. Brown served as Associate Professor of Medicine, and chief of the section of Nephrology, Hypertension and Transplant Medicine.

In 1979, Dr. Brown was voted the outstanding clinical professor by two graduating classes and was the faculty councilor for their Alpha Omega Alpha chapter. He has served on many hospital committees and has memberships in countless professional and scientific societies. His work has been published in both articles and books with the list being virtually endless.

In 1988, Dr. Brown joined the teaching staff in Internal Medicine for Southern Colorado Family Medicine, the residency program at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center. He continues that responsibility today, in addition to being medical director of Quality Resources.
