Fact Sheet

Legacy of Compassionate Care

A two-story boarding house in Pueblo was converted into St. Mary’s Hospital by the Sisters of Charity in 1882. The hospital’s excellent reputation led the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company to transfer ownership of its own Corwin Hospital to the sisters in the late 1940s. St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center was formed shortly thereafter. Today, the hospital continues its legacy of compassionate, outstanding care.
