The Southern Colorado Family Medicine (SCFM) Residency Clinic is committed to both caring for illness and helping our patients take an active role in their own health. With healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care measures, your family can achieve and maintain optimal wellness.
SCFM offers comprehensive health care to all age groups and accepts everyone, regardless of their insurance or ability to pay. We accept Medicare and Medicaid in addition to private insurances. We are also one of only two programs in the area designated as Essential Community Providers for the
Colorado Indigent Care Program, assisting families and individuals who cannot afford health insurance.
What is a Residency?
After medical school, doctors who want to specialize in family medicine must complete a three-year residency program. Resident doctors at the SCFM Residency Clinic work hand-in-hand with experienced family medicine physicians and other physician mentors, to provide quality health care to patients in both the clinic and hospital settings.
Southern Colorado Family Medicine is the only family medicine residency program south of Denver. The residency program is committed to training physicians in the specialty of family medicine so that they may specialize in the needs of the whole family. The program provides an American Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) fully accredited three-year family practice residency with the only dually accredited ACGME/American Osteopathic Association (AOA) residency in Colorado.
If you are a medical student at either an allopathic or osteopathic school looking for a three-year family practice residency, please visit

Dr. Davidson joined the faculty in 2014 where he found his niche in both teaching and seeing patients. As a faculty member with Southern Colorado Family Medicine he enjoys the daily challenge of teaching enthusiastic and talented residents, while still being able to serve patients in the community. Prior to coming to SCFM, Dr. Davidson spent five years serving patients at the Pueblo Community Health Center.
Dr. Davidson received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1994, and went on to finish his residency at the Florida Hospital Orlando Family Practice. He continued his training with an obstetrics fellowship through the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Before moving to Pueblo, he was in rural practice beginning in Athens, Alabama, and then in Burlington, Colorado. The rural setting allowed him to practice a variety of types of medicine from emergency, obstetrics, anesthesiology, and endoscopy, just to name a few.
Dr. Davidson says fatherhood and medicine have been his main passions, and after years in rural practice he and his family moved to Pueblo to find balance. As a faculty member at SCFM, he enjoys his time teaching and serving residents and members of the community, serving through his church, and being able to play catch with his son. This is his definition of a balanced and full life.
Dr. Miller joined the faculty of Southern Colorado Family Medicine in August 2014. Prior to joining SCFM, she spent seven years in the Army treating soldiers, their families, and retirees. She is grateful for the experience she gained as a physician in the Army, and the opportunity to take care of those who have served our country.
Dr. Miller loves family medicine because of the variety every day and the ability to take care of families in the convenience of a patient-centered medical home. Excited to be a part of the SCFM faculty, Dr. Miller enjoys the tremendous culture of learning and enthusiasm built amongst both faculty and residents.
