• Diagnostic Services

  • Diagnostic evaluation for cancer has improved dramatically in the past decade with the development of high-speed, high-accuracy scanning and other imaging equipment. A great number of new techniques have been developed in obtaining tissue samples through procedures that may not require actual surgery. Extremely sensitive, specific stains for cancers have been developed to determine more about the way in which a certain cancer may behave. Blood tests also help in determining types of cancer and responses to treatment.

A variety of diagnostic testing may be required to completely diagnose your cancer, including:

    • State-of-the-art laboratory or blood work services
    • Radiology (X-ray) - some of the procedures that may be performed are:
      • 64- and 16-slice CT Scan (CAT Scan)
      • Bone Density Scan
      • CT Guided Biopsy
      • General x-rays
      • Interventional Radiology
      • Digital Mammography
      • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), to include breast MRI
      • Nuclear Medicine Scan
      • PET/CT
      • Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
      • Ultrasound Guided Biopsy

Our highly-skilled physicians at the cancer center can provide you with information about which tests are indicated, how often they will be performed, where they are conducted, how long they take and when you'll receive results.
