    About Elizabeth Ann Seton

    Born in 1774, Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first native born American to be canonized by the Catholic Church. A source of selflessness and inspiration, Mother Seton chose a life devoted to serving the needy and providing education for all by founding the Sisters of Charity. The Seton Society recognizes St. Elizabeth’s enduring legacy by honoring those individuals and teams whose contribution to our healing ministry adds to our collective sense of accomplishment, inspiring others to nurture the health of the people in our communities.

    Who is eligible to be inducted into The Seton Society?

    Any individual or team – associate, volunteer or physician - in the ambulatory or hospital setting, clinical or non-clinical, can be nominated for demonstrating exemplary performance that emulates compassion, respect, integrity, spirituality, stewardship, imagination and excellence.

    How are individuals and teams selected for The Seton Society?

    A selection committee representing a diverse cross section of the organization reviews nominations monthly. Actual nominees remain anonymous throughout the selection process to ensure the utmost integrity of the process.
