Rob Ryder is a Pueblo, CO native who joined the outstanding administrative team at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in September 2009 as Interim Chief Executive Officer. After learning about the great opportunity that lies within St. Mary-Corwin and the Pueblo community, he announced in December 2009 that he accepted the position as permanent Chief Executive Officer. With his educational background, valuable experience in healthcare and familiarity with Centura Health, Rob is an asset to St. Mary-Corwin and our communities.
The St. Mary-Corwin Board of Trustees unanimously voted Rob for this position. We're thrilled to have a person with his exceptional capabilities and track record in the healthcare field, and someone who has a strong, personal connection to our hospital - having been born at St. Mary-Corwin. It's a wonderful opportunity to tap into Rob's wide array of experience and leadership for both St. Mary-Corwin and the entire Centura Health South State Group.
Rob has served as Vice President of Learning and Leadership Development at Centura Health since 2007. In that role, he provided oversight for the development of all Centura education activities, including leadership and management training, organizational development, physician leadership development, and clinical education. In conjunction with the Studer Group, Rob introduced "Mission in Motion" - an evidence-based, behavioral approach to management - to 800 Centura leaders in 14 operating units and the corporate service center.
Rob is a long-time member of the Centura Health family, beginning his career with Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs as the hospital's first health promotion coordinator in 1980. He created several programs that are still in operation today, including the CCOM Occupational Medicine Program, the Profile Employee Assistance Program, and Penrose's Health Improvement Incentive Program, the only organization in Southern Colorado to receive the 2007 and 2008 American Heart Association's "Fit Friendly Employer" Award.
Rob climbed the ranks at Penrose-St. Francis Health Services to Vice President of Interstate Services, Vice President of Professional Services, Vice President of Patient Care Services, Chief Administrative Officer and spent 10 years as the Administrator at Penrose Community Hospital. He successfully led the multidisciplinary planning and design approach for the Audubon Surgery Center in central Colorado Springs and the new 168-bed St. Francis Medical Center, the only full-service hospital in northern Colorado Springs.
Rob achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both psychology and music from Stanford University, in Stanford, Calif. He has completed numerous professional certifications, including certifications in education, management, CQI, statistical process control, executive coaching, and other areas related to organizational development.
